The Scandic Kajanus is a modern business hotel set in gardens by the River Kajaaninjoki, 300 metres from the castle ruins in the city centre. This four floor hotel features 188 modern guestrooms, all of which include clock radios, hair dryers and minibars.
After a workout in the gym guests can indulge in pampering massage and beauty treatments (discounted rates available). The indoor pool has river views, and guests can unwind in saunas situated by the poolside. The hotel also boasts a private sauna cabinet large enough to accommodate groups and available for hire for meetings; a Turkish steam room lies adjacent to the sauna cabinet. More energetic guests can use the squash and badminton courts in the health centre. The hotel has two restaurants and a bar, which offer views over the river or park and serve Mediterranean and Finnish specialities. Business guests enjoy access to nine meeting rooms and the onsite Congress and Cultural Centre has facilities for all kinds of meetings. Guests arriving by car will find parking facilities and all 200 spaces have sockets where guests can connect their cars in winter, free of charge. City centre attractions such as the Kajaani Castle Ruins, the Art Museum, and the Tar Canal are within a 300 metre walk of the hotel. Kajaani Airport is eight kilometres away with an approximate driving time of 15 minutes.

Guests can take a bus from the airport which stops right beside the hotel. Private taxis costing approximately 15 EUR and shared taxis called 'Airport Taxi' costing 9 EUR are available from the airport to the city. The city centre can be explored comfortably on foot. The bus and train stations are both within a kilometre of the hotel.
